Pac-12, Big Ten ponder fall football as another school punts

Officials in the Big Ten and Pac-12 resumed discussions Tuesday about whether college football should be played this fall as another program decided to punt on its coming season because of the pandemic.

Malvern Boots and Badges will host a blood drive event with the Arkansas Blood Institute Wednesday beginning at 12:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. at the Boys and Girls Club of Malvern and Hot Spring County gymnasium.
Quorum Court meeting set tonight via Zoom

The Hot Spring County Quorum Court will meet for its regular scheduled monthly meeting tonight at 6 p.m., in the large courtroom via Zoom. The Rules, Boards, and Commissions Committee and the Budget and Finance Committee will hold special meetings beginning at 5:45 p.m.

State cases tops 50,000 despite weekend decline; Hot Spring County active cases jump by 48 since Saturday

On Monday, the state saw an increase of 645 confirmed cases. However, recoveries surpassed that total at 678, dropping the active cases by 33 statewide. More than 42,100 Arkansans have recovered and 7,343 cases remain active.

The Malvern Athletic Department held its 32nd Annual Golf Tournament Saturday at the Malvern Country Club. Around 37 teams competed in the 3-man scramble.

Gov. Asa Hutchinson and Secretary of Education Johnny Key announced a proposal for funding for COVID-19 Emergency Leave for School Employees during the daily COVID-19 briefing Friday. Key said this has been one of the top concerns of teachers. They do not want to lose their leave.
MFD secures 3 individuals in water rescue

The Malvern Fire Department secured the safety of three individuals during a water rescue emergency Thursday at the Ouachita River Whitewater Park according to the Malvern Fire Department.
